Episode 69: James Di Virgilio of Chacon Diaz & Di Virgilio Wealth Management
Everyone wants to turn their money into more money, and if it were that simple, everyone would do it.
This episode Collin and Mike have on James Di Virgilio, an investment management analyst that co-founded a fiduciary wealth management firm, Chacon, Diaz & Di Virgilio Wealth Management. James gave us all the insider tips on how to make your money work for you.
“How you choose to invest your money and do your financial planning should make you more money than what you make in your career,” James explained.
Financial goal setting is a good first step when deciding to invest. See your end-result in your head and work backward to get there. The hardest part is sticking to your plan. Discipline is going to be your biggest asset when investing in the future. No matter your income, James recommends setting aside 10% of it for investment, and your future self will thank you for it.
This is where having a friend like James is going to help you out a lot. The investment world is a minefield of jargon, poor decisions, and bad business ventures. Incredibly wealthy people go bankrupt all the time, and it’s usually because they listened to some bad advice. Take it from James, the investment world is too complicated to go it alone. Finding properly trained and educated people to help you make the best investments will ultimately put the most money in your pocket.
“Let’s say I profit $1 million, in my pocket today. How would you advise me to invest that money?” Collin asked.
The simple answer? Well really there isn’t one, but it’s called dual momentum investing. Essentially, it applies well-studied investment methods in combination with the human element, i.e. how people spend with their money.
